Drift Away - Dobie Gray Guitar TAB & Chords

Here’s my arrangement of my favorite song of all time, “Drift Away” as recorded by Dobie Gray.

This song kind of just appeared in my memory one day, like something I heard when I was a baby that always gave me the warm fuzzies every time I heard it later in life.

Please don’t mention the other, more modern version of this song. My mom made me a cross-stitched picture of a guitar with the lyrics to the chorus of “Drift Away” on it, and once a friend came to my house and said “why do you have an Uncle Kracker song on your wall?” I might never recover from that. Even though Dobie Gray appears on that version of the song, it freaking sucks.

Chords used: E · B · F# · C#m — standard tuning (EADGBE), no capo.

Verse: E – B / E – B / E – B / C#m – E

Chorus: B – F# – E (×2), then turnaround B – F# – E – F# – B

Bridge: C#m – E – B / C#m – E – F#
